Meet Our Doctors

Doug Waldman, M.D.

Dr. Doug Waldman came to Marshall in 2003.  Prior to that time, he was on the teaching faculty of Tulane Medical School of New Orleans.

Dr. Waldman, a native of Liberty, Texas, is married and has one child.

He is a high honors graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, and a graduate of The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas.  He completed his orthopaedic surgery training at LSU / New Orleans in 1982.

Dr. Waldman holds the rank of Clinical Associate Professor at Tulane Medical School, and the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor at LSU Medical School, both located in New Orleans.  He is a co-author of many scientific articles in medical journals.

He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.  Dr. Waldman passed the certification test in 1984.  Although not required to, he has voluntarily taken and passed the re-certification test in 1993, 2001, and 2009.

Dr. Waldman has served as a examiner for the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, helping to administer a standardized examination to test the competence of newly trained orthopaedic surgeons.  This is a non-paid, volunteer position.

Orthopaedic surgeons who serve as examiners do so since it is so very important for patient safety that every orthopaedic surgeon meets rigorous standards of knowledge and skill.

Patients should always make sure that their orthopaedic surgeon is board-certified!
